Byron Hawkins led Assault back from 16 down against Long Island Lightning , along with the complete Saturday report.
Saturday’s Report / Notes
Bryon Hawkins, PG, DC Assault Gold 2014- Hawkins was hands down the top performer at the Baltimore Elite Invitational on Saturday. Hawkins a normal starter came off the bench and led Assault to a 58-53 win over Long Island Lightning (NY) despite trailing by as much as 16pts. Hawkins is a combo guard but will be recruited as a point with his ability to handle the rock , the kid has a high basketball IQ and can score in a variety of ways . The 5’11” guard topped all scorers with 23pts in the win. Assault also got a huge contribution from Darius Speaks , a 6’3″ SF who made game changing plays on both ends of the court.
Andre Walker, PG, Long Island Lightning (NY) 2014 – Walker was tough to guard and was a big reason for the Lightning’s huge lead early , the 5’11” point guard is a playmaker , whether he is creating for himself or others. [/format]
[format] Stanford Robinson, SG, TeamTakeover 2013- Standing 6-foot-4 , Robinson is a lefty who is at his best when attacking the basket. Stan possesses a solid mid-range game and has improved his stock with us recently because of his newly acquired passion that he manages to play the game at for 40 minutes.Aaron Harrison, SG, Houston Defenders 2013- The Harrison Twins are Top 10 prospects on both Rivals and Scout and it isn’t hard to see why. Although Aaron (17pts) had a better outing yesterday in their routing of Riverside Hawks , they both showed high major guard traits for a Houston team who is going to be tough to beat come tomorrow’s 16&U championship. Derek Griffin , a 6’7″ power forward had some some monstrous dunks in the Defenders win.
Savon Goodman, SF , Playaz Basketball Club 2012 – Goodman has a motor similar to Grandy Glaze (Rutgers) , the 6’6″ recruit is one of the most athletic players in the country. Goodman is relentless around the rim making up for his lack of size at the power forward position. Darrick Woodadded 10pts for the Playaz , the former Takeover / Progressive Christian guard spoke with Tim Chialastri post-game about life and recruiting in New England.
Junius Thomas , 6’5″ PF Triple Threat 2011 – Thomas a 2011 unsigned senior kept Triple Threat in the game with his shot-blocking ability and above the rim play on both ends of the court. Thomas picked up some interest from Bowie State and may be headed in that direction.Ronald Scott, 5’11” PG Bike Baltimore Elite 2011 – Scott also unsigned at the guard position was instrumental in B-more Elite’s come from behind win against Team Philly. Scott is primarily a scorer (18pts) but showed an effective ability to play the point guard position.
Amile Jefferson , 6’8″ SF Team Philly 2012 – Jefferson is one of the most versatile players in the country , he has great post moves and if you aren’t careful will blow by defenders off the dribble. Jefferson collected a game high 26pts in the loss.
Phil Booth, 6’3″ SG Team Takeover 2014 – Booth scored 12pts in Takeover’s thrashing of the Runnin Rebels. Darian Anderson also added 11pts , while Takeover got a balanced effort from the entire team.
John Crosby , 6’0″ PG Nike Baltimore Elite 2014 – Crosby is one that I want to monitor because it is going to be interesting to see if he can really develop into a pure point guard. Crosby play the 1 but really looks to score (15pts) , may be one of the top recruits in the DMV for 2014.
Brandon Lydsey, 5’10” SG , Nike Baltimore Elite 2014 – Lysey has a sweet stroke , and for those who know the comparison , Brandon definitely favors a similar style and game as Montrose Christian grad Tyler Hubbard.
