Always a good game when two IAC rivals clash. Georgetown Prep came out the gates asserting itself down low. Prep senior Stefan Marcelle and sophomore Khani Rooths combined for 21 of the team’s 1st half points. However, Landon freshman, Frankie Mannino, kept the game close as he poured in 11 first half points, including three 3-pointers. In the second half, every time Prep tried to pull away, Landon would respond with a run of its own. Landon would eventually take the lead after a barrage of three-pointers from Sammy Hemann, Cullen Brown and Tyler Perkins. After Landon stretched its lead to 8, Prep’s sophomore phenom, Khani Rooths, would take over. Rooths scored in transition, in the paint, and from mid-range. Rooths would close out the game with a rim-rattling dunk over a Landon defender. Rooths poured in 12 4th quarter points and had a game-high 25 points to help seal the win for Prep. Stefan Marcelle double-doubled with 18 points. Frankie Mannino would lead the way for the Bears with 16 points, and Tyler Perkins chipped in 14 points in the losing effort.
