Springbrook Comes Back to Steal the W at Richard Montgomery
In a game that Richard Montgomery led from early in the second quarter until the 20 second mark in the game, Springbrook was always within striking distance. But the host Rockets played very tough, trying to prove that they belonged in the upper-tier of Montgomery County hoops.
The Brook entered the game 13-2 but were playing this game without senior forward Isaiah Eisendorf who was out with the flu. As the game progressed it was evident that he was sorely missed. Springbrook’s decisive height advantage wasn’t as obvious as it usually is against most county foes. And their interior scoring was lacking. But the Robinson twins, Aaron, and Andrew put on a show, scoring 36 of the Blue-Devils 54 points.
Richard Montgomery had solid efforts across the board. The Rockets had four players score between 8 and 12 points.
The turning point in the game was when RM’s Noah White missed a 3-point shot with 28 seconds to go in a game tied up at 50, rather then holding for the last shot. The shot led to a transition and-1 field goal for Andrew Robinson who missed the free throw. Richard Montgomery had two shots to tie but both missed and Robinson nailed two free throws to seal the W with four seconds remaining.
Up next for the Rockets is a date at B-CC on February 7th. The Blue-Devils will play at Paint Branch this coming Tuesday.
