Maret Proving They Are The Real Deal; Frogs Complete Season Sweep Over Maret
It’s been an up and down season for Sidwell Friends this year. Entering the year they had one of the heavy favorites for all-met player of the year on their roster.
But things haven’t been going so smoothly for the Villanova commit and his Quakers lately. On Friday night the Maret Frogs proved they are a force to be reckon with and the undefeated season they are having in the MAC so far is no fluke.
It was evident from the start that Maret came to play Friday. They jumped on Sidwell early and led by a score of 15-7 after one. At the break they had Sidwell doubled up, at 32-16.
Sidwell couldn’t get it together in the second half either, and Maret just made play after play after play. On both ends of the court Maret was dominant in a packed house in Northwest, Washington. Perhaps the play of the game was a driving dunk in traffic by Maret senior Ture Lawrence. The final score was Maret 54, Sidwell 41.
Tre Bowens and Marlon Beck led Maret with 14 and 13 respectively. Six other players scored between three and six points.
Sidwell was led by their super-star Josh Hart who scored 15 and grabbed nine boards. Phillip McGloin added 13.
With the win Maret improves to 19-2 and a perfect 8-0 in league play. Maret’s only two losses of the season come to teams that aren’t located in the DMV. Dunbar, Baltimore got them by 20 in early December and Benedictine of Richmond, VA beat them by three just nine days later. Maret has now won 13 straight. Up next for Maret is a game at St. Andrew’s on Tuesday. Then on Friday they will face Saint James.
