Capitol Hoops Attends U.S. All-Stars Capital Classic Practice

On Thursday evening Capitol Hoops went down to T.C. Williams High School to watch the U.S. All-stars practice.  The team is being coached by Patterson High School head coach Harry Martin and his staff.

Some General thoughts after watching practice.

– T.C. Williams has a huge gymnasium, i mean HUGE.

– The U.S. All-stars are big, real big.  8 of their 11 players are 6’6″ or bigger.

– Sam Cassell Jr. Will announce his college decision at the Capital Classic on Saturday.  Many expect Maryland to be his school.

-Maryland has some real good recruits, Seth Allen and Sam Cassel will bring immediate help.

– Charles Mitchell reminds the U.S. coaches and myself of Lonnie Baxter as he uses his body real well and has a big frame.

-Shaquille Cleare, the highest ranked player participating in the Capital Classic is due to arrive in town Thursday night and did not attend the first two practices.

– The best shooter on the U.S. All star team is 6’8″ Evan Nolte headed to Virginia.

– Montrezl Harrell had the best practice.  The V-Tech commit gave 110% and showed all the skills you need from the most versatile position on the court, the small forward.

-Harry Martin and his Patterson staff are putting them through a lot in practice.  If players anticipated the traditional all-star game practice mentality, they quickly learned they were going to work.
