Saturday's Capital Classic prelim game between the District and Suburban All-stars was competitive game that saw plenty of highlights. The suburban all-stars won by nine points.
District All-Star Kevin Larsen, a 6'9" forward from Montrose Christian won MVP honors in a losing effort as he went for a game high 22 points. Tilman Dunbar of Paul VI scored 16, and Takoma Academy's Desmond Stanback scored 15 for the district all-stars. Other players in double-figures for the District All-stars were Cullen Hamilton (Potomac School) with 14, Justin Alston (Carroll) with 12, and Jamal Lewis (Sidwell Friends) with 11.
Keith Shivers led the victorious Suburban all-stars with 17 points and a few monster dunks. Shivers of Wise High School had two other PG-County representatives with him. Chaun Miller of Eleanor Roosevelt, who committed earlier in the day to Harcum Junior College in Pennsylvania scored 11 points and assisted on a pair of alley-oops to shivers. Marcel Boyd of Gwynn Park was the other PG County representative. He scored 10 points and will be playing for Howard University in the fall.
Montgomery County had there representatives as well. Demetric Austin of Springbrook nine points. Sam Edens of Churchill had 11 points and three 3-balls. Scott Bolen of Sherwood scored six.
Eric Singletary of Sidwell Friends coached the District All-stars. Rob Garner of Wise High School coached the Suburban team.
