The host school of the MLK Hoopfest, Coolidge High School had a very strong showing in the co-main event on Monday evening.
Coolidge was paired up with Phoebis, a public school from the tidewater, VA area that features one of the top juniors in the country, Troy Williams. Williams, who is a blood relative to basketball legend Boo Williams showed off his dazzling athleticism, shifty handles, shot blocking ability, and long range shooting. But Phoebis couldn't get it together on Monday and Coolidge put together a dominant effort behind De'Shaun Morman's 22 points and 9 rebounds, Khalen Cumberlander's 19 points and 6 rebounds, and Maurice Jeffers' 8 points and a game high 15 rebounds.
Coolidge looked like the most dominant team in the 4 game showcase. They have the size, the athleticism, the coaching, and the experience to win a DCIAA title.
