Charles Taylor Jr., a 2/3 combo who played his senior season at Springbrook last year recently committed to UMBC.

Taylor is currently playing prep ball at Mount Zion and had a handful of D-1 offers on the line.  Taylor, who is known as one of the best dunkers montgomery county has seen in the last decade chose UMBC over Mississippi Valley St, Jackson St., and Loyola.  Tennessee State had also shown major interest.  UMBC coach Aki Thomas is ecstatic to land mature 6’4” wing.  Taylor will probably play the 2 or the 3 but his ability to rebound for a player of his size is remarkable.  He also showed his ability to defend players in the post, not that Montgomery County has a ton of 6’8″ back to the basket type players, but he often would guard the oppositions tallest player when teammate Demetric Austin was out of the game.  Before playing for Springbrook Taylor played for national powerhouse Montrose Christian.

Congratulations to Charles, his family, and UMBC.
