Highlights from Patterson vs Largo

On Friday evening Patterson High School of Baltimore City squared off Against Largo High School of PG County in a tournament at Lake Clifton High School in Baltimore. Two of the best point guards in the state of Maryland squared off; Largo's Derrick Colter and Patterson's Aquille Carr. It was a very close game until Patterson broke it open in the fourth quarter and walked away with a double digit victory.

It's been a crazy, crazy last two weeks in HS bball in the DMV. Capitol Hoops has been in attendance and brought you coverage of Kris Jenkins' buzzer beater 3 versus Patterson, DeMatha's incredible comeback versus Gonzaga that came up just short as Gonzaga remained undefeated, Coolidge's improbable upset over Monntrose just last night, and Springbrook's buzzer beater last week versus Blake. Patrick Holloway, the sharp shooting senior for Paul VI added his name to the list as he nailed a desperation 3-ball at the buzzer that sent the Fairfax gym into pandemonium.

Coolidge Basketball is either hot or cold, and lately they've been sizzling. It started on MLK day when they beat a Phoebus team who features one of the best players in the country, Troy Williams. They are clearly a force to be reckoned with. Coolidge has now won 9 straight.

Monday's MLK Hoopfest will always be remembered for Aquille Carr and his Patterson Clippers making the trip down 95 for a classic Baltimore vs DC Showdown, for Nate Britt not playing in the contest, and mainly for Kris Jenkins hitting one of the most memorable shots in the DMV in the last decade, a straight away triple, at the buzzer, to avoid loss and remain undefeated. But there was another game in the Hoopfest hat had a lot on the line.
