Springbrook Defeats Previously Undefeated Richard Montgomery in MOCO Showdown

The Springbrook basketball community was fired up after their 43-40 victory on Friday night against previously undefeated Richard Montgomery.  RM brought a bus load of students to the game and the gym was packed.  It had the energy of a playoff game.

For Springbrook head coach Darnell Myers, it was his biggest win to date as head coach for Springbrook, a job he took over coming in to this season.

Last year these two played another intense, defensive, down-to-the-wire matchup in which Springbrook came out victorious.  But this year it was Richard Montgomery who  played the favorite role, but the result was the same.

Springbrook got tremendous play from senior forward Aaron Burton, who drew the assignment of guarding Nick Jackson, who he had much praise for after the game.  On the offensive side, it was Burton who led the Blue Devils in points and rebounding.

Richard Montgomery put two in double figures; Renzo Farfan and Nick Jackson each scored 11 for the now 15-1 Rockets.  The schedule doesn’t get easier for Richard Montgomery who closes it’s season with B-CC, Blair, @ Whitman, @ Churchill, Gaithersburg, and @ Blake before the post-season begins.
