Maret Making Serious Moves; Frogs Improve to 13-2 With Run Away Win vs Georgetown Prep
Maret has been turning heads in the DMV this year with the tremendous season they are having on the hardwood. On Monday evening nothing changed as a solid 11-6 Georgwton Prep team came to Maret and got absolutely spanked.
Maret registered a 69-38 victory, their third win by 20+ in their last seven games. They were led by junior Jalen Barnes who had scored a season high 21 points and terrorized the Little Hoyas. The 6’3″ lefty had a pair of big time dunks and was a major presence in the paint throughout the whole game. Barnes also does a very good job of handling the ball for a forward and creating his own shot. Steffen Davis scored 14 for the Frogs and senior point guard Marlon Beck scored eight points to go along with five assists.
Michael Wolfe paced Georgetown Prep with 11 points, seven of which came in the first quarter. Wolfe was taken out of his game in the second half as he couldn’t keep up with the fast paced game. He made a couple careless fouls and couldn’t get up and down the court. He clearly had a presence in the game as Maret keyed in on him defensively. Prep senior point guard Alex Fabean-Scotch had an off night as well. Although he hit back-to-back 3-balls in the third quarter he was held scoreless otherwise.
Maret will head up to St. James in Hagerstown on Wednesday for what could potentially be a phenomenal game. St. James featured top D-1 prospect Obi Enechionyia (class of 2014). Georgetown Prep will play at Episcopal Friday night.
