Magruder Wins in Day 2 Of Springbrook Tournament, 62-55 Over Thomas Stone
Justin Witmer started off Friday night’s game on fire versus Thomas Stone in the Roberts Oxygen Holiday Classic night cap at Springbrook.
Witmer who has often been overlooked by marquee teammates such as Garlands Owens, Nick Griffin, and JJ Epps has been a rock on this team for three years now. On Friday he scored 12 of his game high 18 points in the first quarter. Magruder put up 25 points in the first quarter, the most points any team scored in a quarter in this year’s Christmas tournament.
Thomas Stone came to play on Friday, unlike Thursday when they got blown out of the gym by Springbrook. Star point guard Michael Briscoe finished with 17 points, including four and-1’s after being held to a season low 5 the night before.
Magruder was too deep, and too good for the Waldorf school. Magruder had five players score seven or more points. Magruder connected on nine 3-balls while Thomas Stone connected on two. Montgomery County (Springbrook and Magruder) finished the tournament 4-0.
