Bullis Stays Hot; Downs Landon Despite 34 from McDonald

Bullis basketball is off to a 16-2 start this year.  Their rival Landon is now 9-6.  On Tuesday night in Potomac it was evident why one school is having so much success and the other isn’t.

Bullis has a very balanced attack– they had 6 players score between 7 and 18 points in their double digit victory over Landon on Tuesday.  Landon on the other hand struggles outside of their superstar Joe McDonald.  McDonald who is being recruited hard by George Washington, played a sensational game Tuesday night, singlehandedly keeping Landon within striking distance.  McDonald finished with a season high 34 points.  He did it inside, outside, and was efficient along the way.  He didn’t force his shot at all.  He didn’t get much help though.  The departure of Darion Atkins hurt the Landon Bears in a major way.  They really lack an inside presence.  It’s going to be tough for them to compete for an IAC championship.

Bullis on the other hand look like they have what it takes to challenge Episcopal for the hardware.  Junior point guard Anthony Thompson may be small in stature but he can bring it.  His offensive game is really coming together an although he’s just a junior he’s one of the more experienced points in the IAC.  Nigel Pruitt has the whole package.  A natural 3, he can play inside and outside, defend, slash, rebound, and take it to the hole.  He’s hard to stop.  Watch for Bullis to continue to grow and come March, make a push at Episcopal for a IAC championship.
